The Village of Hurst Green

 

Hurst Green is a small village in the Ribble Valley in Lancashire, England, famous for its connection with the Jesuit school, Stonyhurst College and JRR Tolkien, author of ‘The Lord of The Rings’.

 

The village is a 20 minute drive from Longridge and a 15 minute drive from Clitheroe. It is situated close to the River Ribble, near to its junction with the River Hodder.

 

The Hurst Green Memorial Hall

 

The Middle Earth Beer Festival is held at Hurst Green Memorial Hall which is situated in the centre of Hurst Green. There is parking available at the Hall and in the village.

Directions - From the M6

 

Take Exit 31, joining the A59 to Whalley, Clitheroe and Skipton. Turn left at the first set of traffic lights (continuing on the A59).

 

Leave the A59 at the next set of traffic lights, turning left onto the B6245 for Ribchester. Take the bridge over the River Ribble and after 600 yards turn right into Gallows Lane, continue to the T-junction and turn right onto the B6243.

 

After 1.5 miles you will reach The Shireburn Arms on the right as you enter Hurst Green village, turn left into Avenue Road and Hurst Green Memorial Hall is 200m on the right before Smithy Row.
